DS106Radio Turns Two Years Old
Two years ago this month, I first listened to DS106Radio while briefly visiting Philadelphia during a pass-through between Oaxaca, Mexico and Pacific Grove, CA.
I am in Philadelphia again today. I am still listening to DS106Radio. I am listening for one of my friends around the world to play some music, tell a story, cough, share a film, or hum. You never know what’s going to happen on DS106Radio, and it always gets better (with age).
Here are a few glimpses of the participatory, creative, and joyful life I’ve experienced with my DS106Radio brothers and sisters over the last two years.
Every photo in this tribute was shot from a DS106Radio listening and/or broadcasting locale–there’s about 700+ more places I didn’t include and thousands of moments I have only captured in my heart.Happy 2nd Anniversary DS106Radio World Wide Crew.
I love you maniacs. #4Life
Welcome to anyone who doesn’t know about the station!
If you’d like to learn more about our beloved radio community, including the educational implications and outcomes we’ve experienced as educators and learners, please listen to our DS106Radio Rockumentary.
Note: Purchased, downloaded, and learned to use iMovie this evening. What better way to learn and practice a new technology than by creating something for loved ones?

Happy Birthday indeed!
That’s a great video. It features one of your signature tunes. Watching the video made me think about DS106RADIO’s influence on bringing people together. If it wasn’t for DS106RADIO would the likelihood of the people being in those photos been decreased? Maybe! We have a lot to be thankful for and lot to celebrate!

Hard to believe so many amazing memories could be made in just two years. Here’s to many many more with you crazy people!
The maniacs love you 2, GNA! Not only is it awesome that you went through the trouble of purchasing and learning a new tool for us, the image you crafted is awesome
My foray into DS106Radio was certainly more technical and a means for me to explore rather than connect, but your video makes me ache for the same sort of connections and camaraderie with those around me that you’ve been able to create and experience. Life in the middle of “fly over country” is hard sometimes, especially in small town USA, but I love being in motion with you in some small way
“I love this place!”
Thanks for this GNA, much needed for me on a gloomy day. As I said on the video comments page, so many happy happy memories. So many friends. So nice.
Dear Friends,
Thank you for reading and watching, and listening. I feel a bit shabby about leaving out the hundreds of other precious moments we’ve captured on film. Not to mention the what must be thousands of hours of audio. Honestly, there is no way to encapsulate our experience in blog posts, photos, individual songs and such. And, on top of that, each of us has a different one (as Ben pointed out above).
In the end it’s really about how we can harness our collective strength and savvy to dismantle the “Ken Burns effect” from iMovie, and all documentaries.
Oh. It’s also about Que Viva #DS106Radio!!
Happy terrible TWO! Let’s party!
ds106radio has been, and may prove to be moving forward, the craziest and most inspiring part of the whole experience. It will and needs to change, but that electricity for over 2 years now is nothing short of incredible. I was hanging on the radio for months at a time, and it felt so right.
